Information:
On this day on 22nd of March, 2017, 36 years ago, a Mongolian cosmonaut, Mr.Jugdermidiin Gurragchaa flew into space along with the Soviet cosmonaut, the twice hero of Mongolia and Russia, Mr. V.A. Janibekov by plane Soyuz-39 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on 22nd of March, 1981.
For eight days of space travel, the two cosmonauts have circled the Earth 124 times and landed back on their home planet on 30th of March. It is certified that Mongolia became the 10th country in the world to send off a cosmonaut to space and 20th country, tested equipment in the space. The Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics of Mongolian Academy of Sciences, School of Mechanic Transport of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and Children’s Invention Center celebrate together its’ anniversary of Mongolia’s Space Travel by organizing special events including “Short theoretical speeches” seminar for students, unique space-themed collection and missile performances for young inventors. The main purpose of this event is to support young inventors and to promote students’ achievements in the field of space science.
The event “Young inventors of a Happy City” will be held at the Space Palace of the Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics on 22nd March of 2017 at 11 a.m.
